Incorporating disability justice into post-war spatial development in Ukraine: Gaps and recommendations

Authors

Abstract

This study examines the policy making efforts and challenges in ensuring spatial equality and dignity for an increasing number of injured and disabled Ukrainians, including war veterans, aging adults, and children during the war and for post-war reconstruction. Findings suggest that reconstruction of Ukraine with inclusivity in mind requires the creation of a holistic approach from the regional to the local level, from protecting the spatial rights of people with disabilities to ensuring involvement in public participation and decision making, from upgrading laws and regulations to monitoring the implementation of them.
